The Desert Moon is a boutique inn and RV park, located in Thompson Springs off I-70 exit 187, just 5 miles east of the Highway 191 turnoff to Moab, Utah. The Desert Moon has been serving the greater Moab area since the coal mining days of the1930s. We offer 10 Full Hook Up RV Sites, Tent Camping Sites, and Private Rooms .
We are situated in the small town of Thompson Springs (population 40-50), located next to the Union Pacific Railroad. The recently renovated Desert Moon Inn is a boutique experience featuring 5 uniquely themed guest rooms that share two beautiful bathrooms and a kitchenette. The Old Desert Moon Hotel and Cactus Cabaret Dancehall were built in 1936 and served many travelers, miners, railroad workers, truck drivers, and tourists over the years. The Cactus Cabaret once served as the old town bar and brothel.
Shade trees, electricity, water, and sewer utilities are available at each RV parking spot. We also have modern restrooms, shower facilities and water spigots to accommodate tent campers and smaller pop-ups. Ask us about our private theme rooms available for rent in our boutique inn, the historic Desert Moon Hotel.
There are 12-15 staff members living on site at all times. We are a little community of eccentric artists and adventurers, and are always working on projects to improve the property. Feel free to come say hello and ask us about what we are building here! Under new management as of July 2020.

The Desert Moon RV Park features 10 spaces with full hook-ups 50/30/20 amp plugins at each site, plus sewer ports and water spigots.
camping
Camp in quiet and comfort under the stars at Desert Moon. We have several tent camping sites available and shower facilities onsite.
Private Rooms
6 private rooms available (1 queen, 5 full) with shared kitchenette and 2 beautifully renovated bathrooms. 4 of the rooms have sinks. Reserve the whole floor for your group trip to Moab, Arches, or Canyonlands!
